NOV FAVOURITES X UPDATES

Picture

Hey there!

It’s been hectic the past month (actually, when is it never hectic for me?) and I finally found some time and motivation to continue this post, which was drafted since early December. Opsy! The delay in my November Favorites post is mainly because I wanted to use my new camera to capture shots for this post, but I took a little longer than expected to learn it. In addition, I was contemplating whether to do a video version instead of an actual blog post because I just can’t seem to find the inspiration to type. But filming a video is hard, because I can’t find proper background, lighting, and an environment quiet enough to not affect the filming. Too many people at home, it’s so hard to find personal space in here. When I was in hostel, I plead for companion and voices, but when I’m back at home, I wish everyone will give me some time and space. Sigh..

Alright, excuses aside, I’m now determined to finish this post in one seating! There will not be much product pictures this time because I was still trying to figure out my new camera when I took shots for this post.  Which means that I ended up with many blurry shots which cannot be used (sulks). Nonetheless, I don’t really think it will affect this post much, so let’s begin!

1. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
I’ve heard tons of raves about this curler since my internship at the modelling agency, but I never got about buying it mainly because I didn’t believe there would be a difference in a high end brand’s curler and those you can get at Daiso for $2. Mine was starting to lose its tension and getting a little dirty, and when I heard my Aunt was going to HK for vacation, I asked her to help me purchase the Shu Uemura Curler because apparently SU is cheaper in HK. Now I’m a SU curler converter because my gosh, IT REALLY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE! My lashes are pretty long and dense naturally, which means that I have eyelashes nearer to the inner corners which are quite long and obvious. My old curlers were not able to reach into the inner corners and curl those lashes up, and I will end up with 3/4 of my lashes curled, and the lashes in the inner corners uncurled. This always make me so frustrated, but with the SU curler, for some reason, the shape fits my eyes so nicely, i get to curl all my lashes with one application!! I have no idea what made the SU Curler so much more awesome, but it works, and that’s all that matters.

2. Maybelline Baby Lips Electro in Pink Shock
I bought this when I was out on a date with OBC girls, and I admit it was quite an impulsive purchase. I was really stressed out at that time, and every time I’m nervous or stressed I tend to peel my lips (I’m doing that right now because I am worried about some school matters). My lips were feeling really crappy that night, so when i saw the baby lips collection in Watsons, I was instantly reminded of all the raves about it on Youtube, and immediately grabbed the pink one and rush to the cashier. My impulsive purchase is justified once again, because I’ve gotten myself an awesome product. For starters, this lip balm is SERIOUSLY PIGMENTED. On days when I head off to school looking like a zombie (too shag and tired to be bothered with any makeup), I will always end up scaring myself when I look into the mirror. Trust me, it’s a depressing sight. But thanks to this baby, I feel alive again. 1 swipe is all that’s needed for the color to pop on the lips, and in addition it is somewhat glossy and hides the chapped lips very well. There are many lip balms that are pigmented but not moisturizing/comfortable on the lips, but this baby is not one of them. It is lightweight and feels really moisturizing. Right now I’m planning to grab the Berry Bomb, Strike a Rose, and Oh Orange to throw into each of my bags in case I need some lip rescue.

3. Essence Cookies & Cream Shimmer Pearls in #01 One Sweet Day

I should really steer clear of Watsons, I’m losing all my money in this greenish store. This highlighter is yet another impulsive purchase, but I love how it’s really subtle and natural. Singapore’s weather is really hot and humid, so my skin tend to get oily if I spend too much time under the sun. Wearing a really strong highlighter will make me look like a disco ball, and that’s disgusting (go ahead if it’s your cup of tea!). I will be honest, what really captured my heart initially i how beautiful this pot of shimmer pearls is. Plus, it looks somewhat like the Guerlain meteorites, at more than a 90% discount!! Such a steal!! However, there is 1 thing I don’t really like about this highlighter – the scent. It smells like diabetes. I think Essence thought it would be sweet (no pun intended) to inject some candy scent into these shimmer pearls, but the scent is too strong and too artificial it’s a little overwhelming. Thankfully the scent does not linger on the skin, so fret not.

4. Bourjois Flower Perfection Transparent Smoothing Primer

I usually prefer liquid primers because they are more blendable, so when I got this as a gift from my internship company, I let it stay in my makeup drawer for more than a year. I finally got about using it because my Catrice primer ran out, and was instantly wowed by how smooth it made my skin feel. The primer blurs out most of my pores, which the Catrice primer did not manage to do, and it is extremely blendable, contrary to my beliefs. It works very well at keep my foundation and makeup in place, and I also use it on my eyelids to prevent eyeshadows from straying. Although it does a good job at holding on to the eyeshadows, I don’t actually think it works at making them more vibrant. This primer has not broken me out so far (I’ve already started to hit pan), but if I’m not wrong it contains silicone ingredient (don’t quote me on this, I’m not too sure), so if products containing silicone ingredients tend to clog your pores, I will suggest you steer clear of this primer! If not, do give it a try!!5. 3 Concept Eyes Matte #705 Sugary Cake

Picture

Can we take a minute to appreciate the beauty of Park Sora. I have been looking for a perfect nude lipstick recently for days where I want to go with the “no makeup” makeup look, and when I chanced upon this picture of Park Sora, I went crazy trying to find out the shade she’s wearing on her lips. It turned out to be #706 Sugary Cake, and I immediately bought it from Freyja, the shop which i purchase most of my korean cosmetics from. I was not aware that #705 is a matte shade, but i didn’t mind, because it had a natural matte finish, and not those super drying, flat matte texture. I would not say that this lipstick is moisturizing. Generally, most 3CE lipsticks (besides the 3CE Creamy Lip Color series) are not moisturizing at all. In fact, despite wearing lip balm below, most 3CE lipsticks tend to chap my lips after 2 to 3 hours of wear. I wonder how Park Sora lips still look so healthy after modelling for so many shades at a go. But I really like the shade, and thankfully it does not settle into fine lines, so I am willing to close one eyes and embrace this lipstick (hehe). Swatch is available below!

6. NYX Butter Lipstick in BLS09 Candy Buttons
I first saw the Youtuber Jenn Im wearing this lipstick, and I knew I had to get my hands on this because I love Jenn Im and I love the shade! Lucky for me, Sephora opening in Tampines and they widen their NYX collection with the Butter Lipsticks! By the way, is it just me, or does anyone feel like the price for NYX has increased tremendously over the years? In the past, NYX was somewhat cheaper than drugstore cosmetic prices, but right not I find that it can get even more expensive than drugstore products. Nonetheless, this lipstick is worth every cent because it’s so creamy and pretty! The only downside is that it does not last very long on the lips, which is expected for such a creamy lipstick.

Picture

Picture

Left: NYX Butter Lipstick, Right: 3CE Matte #705
Here’s a swatch/comparison of the 2 lipsticks. Besides the difference in finish, i find the NYX one more pinkish while the 3CE one has more of a orange tone.
7. Etude House Color Pop Shine Tint in P12 (Baby size)

Picture

I was shopping at the largest Etude House store in SG one weekend, and I saw this super cute display of the whole range of Color Pop Shine Tint. Like I’ve mentioned before, the Color Pop Shine Tint is probably my fave product from Etude House, so it was a no brainer that I had to get my hands on more shades. P12 caught my eyes because I was on a lookout for a deep burgundy shade for Christmas. On the packaging, the shade looks super dark and a little reddish-brown, but on the lips, it is not as dark and looks a little more reddish-purple. Love how long it lasts on my lips, and it’s really pigmented too!
8. Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara
Well, the name of this product says it all. It keeps my eyebrows in place, but does not give them a hardened look/feel! I haven’t tried it on my lashes, and I’m not sure if its waterproof. I hate it when clear brow mascara gets all dirty and brownish inside the tube, but because this item is so cheap, I guess I can just junk it when it gets all disgusting and buy myself a new one!9. Secret Key Secret Kiss Twinkle Gel Pencil Liner in Burgundy

Picture

I’ve always always always wanted a burgundy eyeliner, but I don’t know why I never got about getting myself one. Probably because I’m too afraid that I cannot pull off the shade, and will end up with teary bloodshot eyes. I got this on a 1+1+1+1 sales on Qoo10. Yes, i’m a sucker for 1+1s!! I got the shades Choco Brown, Beige Shine, Burgundy and Deep Black. They were all very creamy, and they do not smudge or transfer! They are waterproof too! Burgundy was not too red, which made it more wearable!

Picture

On days where I’m in a rush, I just draw the eyeliner thickly on my last finger, and smudge the color on my eyelids, below the double eyelid line. Using a blending brush, I’ll blend the color upwards, fading into the crease, and then using the same color, I line my upper and lower waterline. This creates a layering effect that can be applied boldly for a smoky look, or played down by reducing the intensity of the shade. Saves me a whole load of time!
That’s it for my November Favourites! I really finished it in one seating, woohoo!

Moving on to some updates on my life…

Holidays have started and I’m starting to feel time speeding up. Time always past faster when you are enjoying, yeah? I spent most of my holidays catching up with friends and watch dramas. I’ve been super hooked on We Got Married thanks to the 2 couples – Yura & Jonghyun + Jaerim & So Eun. THEY ARE ALL SO GOOD LOOKING AND TOO DAMN CUTE TOGETHER, I FEEL LIKE IN LOVE WHEN I WATCH THEM! I have a crazy crush on Jonghyun right now, I actually went to watch most of the dramas he’s in. I admit he’s acting is kind of stiff sometimes, but that charming face of his is irresistible! Besides these, I’ve been spending good quality time with the family as well as with the boyfriend. 🙂 Here are some pictures of us on a picnic x kite flying date at marina barrage, which ended in a tangly mess & the first fall of my a5000 (cough)!

All photos unedited and straight out of my new baby, Sony A5000 !

Hello, my new baby!!

Picture

I’ve been forcing myself to shoot at aperture priority mode, and as a beginner I tend to forget to change the aperture from time to time, which is why some of the photos are darker than the rest. I’ve been reading up on some photography knowledge, and finally terms like the f-stop, iso and shutter speed makes sense to me. I’ve been wanting to get myself a camera for a really long time, and the urge intensified during exam period because I was so stressed out I just wanted to splurge SO BADLY!! Plus I found a good deal for the A5000!

The Sony A5000 had everything i wanted in a camera –
1. Interchangeable lens (idk when I will start changing lens but it feels good to know you have so many options out there) 2. Flip LCD screen (girls got to do their selfies you know?)
3. Full manual control
4. Large sensor (BACKGROUND BLUR!!)
5. White
6. Light
7. Within budget
8. Full HD video
9. Built-in flash (I have a feeling I will definitely lose an external flash)
10. Wifi & NFC (INSTANT TRANSFER TO PHONE = INSTANT SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE!)

The A5000 was such a perfect match, I was in awe. I bring him in my new mini backpack everywhere I go now, in case I find myself any photo-worthy moment.  The pictures I take are definitely far from professional (it was never my intention), but I’m learning step by step, and finding my type of photography style. Right now, I’m just snapping away as and when i like, getting all excited everytime i hear the shutter button. But like how I respond to all professional cameras, I’m not exactly comfortable/confident when I let someone else capture me with such cameras. I just have the feeling that the camera is so sharp it will capture all my flaws which is a little scary. Oh well, come to think of it, it’s my camera anyway, I can just delete any ugly pictures! HAHAHA.

That’s it for now!

XOXO,
Iris

UPDATES X AUGSEPTOCT FAVOURITES

Hey guys! It’s been so long since I’ve updated this blog because University is taking its toll on me (what’s new?), and I have been opting for a less formal/more convenient way of micro-blogging via “Dayre” app. Dayre is definitely filled with more ramblings and random complains, which is something I have been quite hesitant to do on this blog because I like to have all my posts planned out properly. Nonetheless, now you know I’m still alive, yeah?

University has been different in every ways I had expected it to be. That’s definitely a negative factor to me because I don’t like to be thrown off-guard. In addition, workload is so overwhelming, but that will hopefully cease after October ends, since we have finals for Nov.

In addition, I made it into 14’s dance team and got my dusty bones moving!! Woot! But now I have a problem, because I can’t do stunts for nuts. Sigh..

Finally met up with my OBC girls yesterday and I suddenly feel a lot better again. Friendship is a beautiful thing, ain’t it? I really wished we could have stayed on longer, but I’m sure we more gatherings coming up. For all the girls who are having a hard time in their own ways, i hope you gained strength from yesterday’s meetup, and know that OBC will always be here for ya! 🙂

Moving on, here’s a very late months-accumulated favourites post! (guilty)
I finally got about doing it after being reminded by Bri yesterday. I will make this a short and quick one!

Favourites!!

2. Cover Girl outlast stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation in Classic ivory

Next up is the Cover Girl outlast stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation in Classic ivory, which I’ve had for quite some time. As you can see from my previous post, I’m all about the Korean brands, so I use my cushion foundations more often. However, i saw this bottle sitting around in my cupboard and decided that i should stop spending money on foundations unless I finish up all that I have. I used to apply this with my hands and i didn’t really like the finish, but now that I have a beauty blender, this foundation applies flawless and natural on my face! I don’t even need to powder my face because this foundation sets pretty matte.

1. Nakedglory Watch

Got my petite watch from Nakedglory after feeling extra stressed out during a lecture. Whenever I’m stress, i shop on impulse, but this is definitely one of my satisfied impulse buys. It’s sooooo beautiful, I love the “diamonds” and blue reflective face of the watch. The only problem I have with it is that I don’t really know how to read this kind of watches, and the strap has started to look a little worn out. I will probably get a new strap soon.

Picture

Picture

3. L.A. Colors Cover Up Pro Concealer Stick

Picture

I bought this on impulse too, but it works super well for my undereyes! I got this in yellow because apparently its a shade to cover up the darkness under the eyes. This concealer stick blends sooooo well, and does not settle into creases. In hall, i try not to waste time putting on too much makeup, so usually I just slap this on with my cushion foundation and a lipstick, then I’m out of the door. I need to get to another watsons’ pop up store to stock up on this, it’s seriously holy grail worthy!

4. YSL Rouge Volupte in #33 & #13

Picture

Beautiful or what?! I got my hands on these babies finally, after thinking for very long (the price…). They smell like mango, and I love the #33 (left) more than #13 (right) because it goes on smoother. #13 tends to settle into fine lines, and the air is very bad in my hall room so I get chapped lips all the time which is not pretty under #13. But the shades are sooooo pretty and they stain the lips in a beautiful way! Definitely worth the splurge!

5. Etude House Color Pop Shiny Tint in #2 Sunny Pop

Got this during on of Etude house’s silent sales, at about $8, cheaper than online. The tint is super glossy but not sticky at all, and it’s crazily pigmented. I love the way it stains my lips and last the whole day, so low maintenance and awesome!

Picture

6. The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX Angel Skin Powder Pact

Picture

Picture

I’ve had this for a longgggg time too, but shelved it because i kept buying new compacts. I tried using the beauty blender on this, and it looks flawless and the finish is soft but not flat. It also helps preventing the base makeup from sinking into fine lines.
7. MISSHA The Style 4D Mascara

Picture

Bought this because I was sharing a cart with some friends from Koreadepart.com, and I saw this mascara going at about $4USD. Cheap or what? And it turns out to have received numerous awesome reviews online. The formula is awesome, natural but super lengthening, and does not smudge/flake/smear! It’s also waterproof, and the wand is square-shaped, which is damn cool and good at curling.

8. VDL Xpert Color Lip Cube Moisture SPF 10 #105 Pink Positive

Picture

Picture

Picture

Picture

I saw this recommended on one of the Get It Beauty 2014 episodes, and love the way the cubic shape allows precise cupid’s bow application. I don’t have a very prominent cupid’s bow, but this lipstick helps to accentuate it. It’s super moisturizing as well, as the color payoff is really good. Pretty long lasting just that it’s prone to transference. It’s also quite pricey too for a brand like VDL that’s not very famous in SG, at almost $30USD. Got this during the Koreadepart share cart.

That’s it for now, I will post again soon! Hopefully i get time to edit my braces pictures and do a post on it. (OPS!)

XOXO,
Iris

JUNE FAVOURITES

Hey there,

The month of June has been quite an eventful month for me with lots of new experiences. I guess I’ve been trying to cram in as much activities as possible this month because I finally felt that the start of my University life is drawing near. From July onwards I will have to go into full swing preparation for school & hostel, and I will officially be an undergraduate starting from August. Time is flying so fast, and I’m being thrown into sort of a panicky state right now. All the freshmen, tell me I’m not alone, please?

That aside, let’s jump right into my monthly favorites for June!

Picture

(From Left to Right)

Picture

1. IOPE Air Cushion XP Compact SPF50+/PA+++

Yes guys, this air cushion has finally made its way to my favorites! I got this back in early March, and didn’t really like it because it felt sticky and too dewy on my skin. For some reason I found it extremely uncomfortable when I wear this under the sun because the sweat made the foundation feel even more sticky and creamy on my face.

However, after almost 4 months of trying this product out, I can finally say that I’m in love with it!

Picture

I really enjoy how convenient it is to use, and in addition I really love the simple yet beautiful packaging. I no longer find this foundation sticky on my skin, and the only trick I used was to forget about the sponge that came with the compact, and substitute it with the almighty beauty blender instead. My gosh, the beauty blender makes such a HUGE difference to the overall finish! By using the beauty blender wet, I can now apply the foundation in sheer layers, which makes it look very natural and less dewy!

In addition, I finish the look with the Innisfree sebum control powder which helps to remove the stickiness as well as improve the oil control of the overall base makeup. The air cushion really does help in evening out the complexion, and brings a brightening effect (not whitening!!) to the face, giving a radiant and refreshed glow.

Picture

Mine is in the shade N21

Picture

Close up on the cushion!

The shade may appear a little dark, but when applied on skin, it is actually quite fair and blends well with my skin tone.

2. Illamasqua Powder Blushed in Unrequited

Picture

CAN YOU HEAR MY HEAR SHATTERING?!?!?
Ok, I bought this online and when it shattered on the way to me and I received a bubblewrapped package filled with pink powder. The moment I opened up the parcel, I mumbled a “FML” to myself. I requested for a refund and got my money back, but I couldn’t bear to throw this beautiful thing away.

So I decided to try to fix my shattered blush, but for some reason, mine doesn’t turn out the way its supposed to, as shown in the youtube tutorials. I have no idea where I went wrong! I even went out to purchase a rubbing alcohol but for some reason everytime the blush dries, it starts cracking and I always end up with a cracked but in place(?) blush. This is the end result after 2 attempts, and I decided I should experiment no more because I have wasted enough of the product. I was thinking maybe i should just make it into a loose powder blusher, but I have no proper container to store them. Such a bummer, really.

Nonetheless, the damage did not stop the blusher from giving me beautiful cheeks, and I am still happy for I get to use such high quality and beautiful blush at the price of $0.

3. The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX You & Face Blusher 09 Cinnamon Dream

Picture

This is my go to bronzer for almost a year now, and besides the adorable packaging, I like the blendability of the powder as well as the micro shimmers in it.

For the past month, when I feel like going light with my makeup, all I use is my air cushion foundation, my illamasqua blush, an eyebrown pencil and this “bronzer” to contour my nose. Despite looking pretty dark in the photo, this shade transfers really subtle on my skin, and is barely noticeable. But that’s what I like about it, because I find most bronzers too dark for me and appear unnatural. With this bronzer, I can keep layering until my desired effect without worrying about it looking fake. The only downside is that the cover is coming loose from the pan. Oh well!

4. Etude House Play 101 Pencils in #7, #17, #43, #46

Picture

These pencils come in different finishes, such as glossy, creamy, glitter etc. They are multipurpose pencils, which can be used as eyeliner, eyebrow, eyeshadow, contour, highlight, blusher, lipstick, lipliner and concealer. AWESOME ISN’T IT? The best thing is that they seriously stay put all day once they set, and does not crease or smudge or flake AT ALL. Even when used on the lips, they last pretty well through eating and drinking, and does not transfer.

I got the shades #7, #17, #43 and #46 for myself, and bought #21 as well as #41 for my Mom. #7 was supposed to be a concealer for my under eye, however I realized that when I use #7 on my undereye, it is seriously hard to blend the pencil out using fingers and you can see the pencil strokes drawn. In order to blend, I have to use a small concealer brush to gently scratch at the drawn strokes to make them blend into the skin. This can be quite a hassle and defeats the purpose of how these pencils are suppose to bring convenience. However, for some reason, #7 works really well covering any blemishes or dark spots, and can be blended out easily using the fingers. I don’t really get why there’s a drastic difference between using on the undereye and the rest of the face, to be honest.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram or Twitter, you will know that I have been raving about these pencils for quite awhile.

I first heard of them from my favourite korean Youtuber – Pony, and finally found them on sale at Qoo10.sg! The price and shipping fee was quite expensive, but now that I’ve tried them, I feel like they are worth every penny spent! I’m sure they will arrive in the SG stores soon, but I can almost foresee that the price will definitely be higher.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the crazy shade range offered for these Play 101 Pencils?! I wish Etude House sold them in a entire set. Imagine have all the pencils placed nicely into a flat tin box as if they were old schooll color pencils. (squeals!!)

Picture

Picture

I’m planning to purchase more shades, such as #14 (orange), #18 (purple), #37 (aqua) and #48 (dark brown). Woop woop!

My Mom and I use #17 & #21 as lipstick and blusher. I seriously love #17 as it is a purplish pink and goes well as a blusher when I use a purple lipstick. I also like to wear #17 on my lower lashline to give it a pop of color. On my Mom, #21 brightens up her face when she wears it on her lips, and make her look well rested and healthy.

#43 & #46 are my go to eyeshadow pencils, which i just draw on messily and blend out with my fingers. They are very shimmery/glittery and looks beautiful on the lids. I also use them to highlight the inner corners of my eyes as well as my brow bone.  My Mom uses #41 as her crease shadow and also to fill in her brows.

5. Etude House Bling Bling Eye Stick in #01, #08, #10

Picture

Picture

June is my month of eyeshadow pencils/crayons overload. Here’s another Etude house product, which is a easy to use eyeshadow stick. I got the #01 Shooting star, which is just a shimmery white color, #08 Ivory Baby star which is a peachy brown color (i don’t know where the “ivory” came from), and #10 Little Bear Star which is a shimmery brown color.

(Top to bottom): #10 Little Bear Star, #08 Ivory Baby Stars, #01 Shooting Star

I have been hesitant to purchase these eye sticks because several reviews complained that they crease on the lids and does not last long. However, my experience is completely different. Even though after hours, the eye sticks still feel creamy and blendable on my lids, they do not crease or fade, provided that you do not touch them. Being a contact lenses wearer since Primary 3, I have gotten used to not touching or rubbing my eye region for the entire day in fear that eyelashes or makeup may get into my eyes which hurts like hell by the way. So that may be one of the reason why most eye makeup last on me. Oh in addition my eyelids are slightly oily. I use these eyesticks instead of the Play 101 pencils when I don’t feel like being overly precise with my application, or when I want to wear an extremely shimmery eye makeup.

6. Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in 01 Vanilla Sky

Picture

Before you start suspecting whether I’m an eyeshadow pencil/crayon addict, I have to defend for myself by saying that I was kind of pressured into purchasing this. I was at the road show for BHG when 3 sales assistant aunties flocked over to surround me and started hardcore promoting activities. They started showing me testers and demonstrating the products on my/their hands, and even proceeded to help me hold (snatch..*cough*) my bag and drink so that I can try out the products. I really did not find anything that had appealed to me, but they kept talking and didn’t let me go. In the end I just grabbed this jumbo pencil that was infront of me and told them that “ok ok I’m going to get this.” Despite it being a “sales roadshow”, this cost $13.90 (if i’m not wrong), which could have bought be 2 more etudehouse play 101 pencils. I was in the state of regret when I handed my money over to the cashier, with one of the sales assistant aunties still beside me making sure I made the purchase. I suppose commission really is a strong motivating factor for the sales people.
Anyways, I finally had time (and space) to check online for reviews, and realized that many people love this pencil. (PHEW!) It turns out that I am now one of the people who regard this eyeshadow pencil as one of my HG product. This thing is awesome as an inner corner highlight as well as browbone highlight, and I even use it on my nose bridge sometimes. It stays put all day long, no matter how oily your face is, and does not budge until you decide to remove with makeup remover. This works really well even on my waterline.

7. Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Brown

I don’t think I need to say much about this. I haven’t met one person who didn’t like this eyeliner. I bought this on impulse during watsons member sales. I have been wanting a brown liquid eyeliner for a long time, and this dollywink one works just right for me. It does not smudge or transfer, and is easy to draw thanks to its super fine tip. I find that it is really easy to wing out the eyeliner using this. Another HG product for me!!

8. NARS Larger Than Life Lipgloss in Penny Arcade

Picture

I have Huisan to thanks for this, for if not for her, I would not have been to the Shiseido warehouse sales, and I will never discover my love for NARS lipglosses. I have made myself clear that I am not a lipgloss kind of girl, but this is an exception. Penny Arcade has a really thick formula, and goes on like a liquid lipstick, pigmented and glossy. It is not excessively stick (mac lipglass…), and last well on the lips unless I eat or drink. I actually did not see much that I liked at the Shiseido warehouse sales, and I also had a hard time trying to squeeze my way to the front of the NARS counter to see what’s available. I actually intended to get some of NARS concealer, eyeshadow or lip crayons (cough), but the crowd was so crazy I can barely see anything. In the end I saw a girl waving a tester of this lipgloss, and it look decent enough to work on my skin tone. If it doesn’t, I can pass it to my Mom as this seems to be her kind of color as well. So I just pointed to the tester and requested that the sales person pass a new piece to me because I can barely reach the counter. If i’m not wrong, the price for this is $37 under the NARS Andy Warhol Holiday 2012 Collection, and I got it at the sales for I think $13 or $18. Such a steal! The applicator is a small tiny brush which needs some getting use to for someone who is used to see lipglosses with doefoot applicators. After some experimenting, I found that placing the wand vertically and using the brush by its length inside of its tip helps to provide an even application. A little really goes a long way due to its thick and pigmented consistency, and it leaves a beautiful stain after it wears off.
I’m planning to get myself another one in Norma for my birthday! (hehe)9. Cosmetica Rounded Blending Brush

Picture

I have been looking for a rounded fluffy blending brush as well as a pencil brush, but I could not find the latter. I bought this from the cosmetica counter at Guardian in Vivocity for about $7.90. Super cheap, and works pretty decently! I use this along with the Face Shop ME:EX Blusher in Cinnamon Dream which I use as a nose contour, and it blends out the contour naturally. It does not blend the eyeshadow sticks/cream eyeshadows well, and the bristle will tend to stick to the cream eyeshadows which result in shedding. So I only use this with powder products.

10. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Previously I mentioned in my last month’s favorites post that I enjoyed using the grape peeling mask from the same brand. I still use the peeling mask once a week to remove dirt from my skin. In addition, I added this mint masque to my weekly skin care routine, and use it once a week too. This masque is suppose to dry up pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarge pores. I don’t really break out much recently, so I don’t know how it will work for drying up acne. However, it really does work at reducing blackheads and shrinking enlarge pores. There is a tightening sensation after washing away the masque, and my skin feels super smooth after using it. The tightening effect is definitely temporary, but with prolong use I’m sure it will make some permanent different in the skin texture. No wonder so many people adore this!

I know it’s been a long post with sooo many pictures. My bad, I have a tendency to keep writing when it comes to things I like. If you stayed and read till this part, YOU ARE AWESOME! ❤

That’s it for now, guys!

XOXO,
Iris

MAY MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Hey there,

It’s that time again for another monthly favorites post. I can’t believe almost half of 2014 is gone already, it’s just insane. May ended in quite a rush for me probably because I was busy working, and June started with so much sadness..  I just hope the rest of the month can go smoothly, I won’t load you with anymore of my tear jerking story for now, so let’s move on to the items I have loved for this month, shall we?

Picture

From Left to Right:

1. Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque
This product claims to be able to clean clogged pores, soften facial lines, soothes and tones skin.
I was eyeing this masque and the mint one that day in watsons (sold at about $12), but was unsure whether they were suitable for sensitive skin. After doing some research, I discovered that the beauty community online have been raving about these products since 81912921 years ago! I knew I had to get it, and lucky me, I found a time sales on Qoo10.sg which was having promotions for these masques and some lotions from the brand. In the end I got 3 different Queen Helene masques for a total of $15. SUCH A STEAL RIGHT!! I love peel off masques, and this one is especially easy to use and really fun to peel. I have been using this masque 2 times a week for the month of May, and although there are no significantly visible results, my skin feels really clean and fresh after using the masque, and it also feels so much softer! As someone who puts on makeup on a daily basis, I feel like this masque really does help at removing all the junk in my pores and revealing a more radiant skin. The only downside is that it has a glue-like consistency which is quite hard to spread on the face.

2. CHANEL Snowflakes Cosmetic Pouch (in Large)
Even though this is supposed to be a cosmetic pouch, I prefer to use it as a clutch for days where I don’t really need to carry much things other than my Phone and Wallet. The design is so elegant and versatile, it matches any outfit! I have this in the larger size, and hence it has so much space to hold a bunch of things. I especially love the snowflake zippers, too cute!

3. Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask

Picture

I have been using the toner from this brand, and found it to be quite good. When I stumbled upon the brand’s masks at Chinatown while shopping with Meipeng, I was really curious and wanted to try it out. It was pretty inexpensive considering the brand, and was priced at $9.90 for a box of 10. I am sure Watsons or SASA carry this too, but at a higher price. This item really did not disappoint me! The mask sheets were of high quality and adhere to the skin very well! The smell is good and the essence is really moisturizing and thick, without being runny. I can put on the mask and continue with my usual activities without having to worry that the essence will trickle down my neck or that the mask will start detaching by itself. After using the masks, my skin feels more supple and moisturized, and the dry patches around my nose and chin were all cured! The only thing about this mask is that I have a feeling it is quite intensive and hence should not be used more than once a week, in my opinion.

4. Benefit Lolli Tint

Picture

The Pantone Color of the Year 2014 is Radiant Orchid, and that explains my craze for anything that’s pinkish purple. My favourite Korean Youtuber “So Young’s beauty room” loved the Benefit Lolli Tint and I was dying to get one for myself too. Honestly, the price for the full size tint is such a turnoff, so I got myself the sample size instead to try out the shade in case it is not suitable to my skin color whatsoever. Thankfully, the tint works out just fine with my skin tone! I prefer this as a blush more than a lip tint because my natural lips are quite pigmented and hence the tint does not show up well. I know I can conceal my lips with foundation or concealer, but I dislike the thought of consuming such chemicals. This tint last the whole day (8 hours or more) on my cheeks, and give my face a special look – Is she wearing a pink blush or a purple blush??? (Hehe)
Below is the swatch for the lolli tint.

I got another sample size purple shade lip product to try out how it will work with my face. I love the consistency of this lipstick, as it is very creamy and moisturizing. The color payoff is awesome, and the sample size is small enough to provide better application control. The formula is not exactly long lasting, and disappears after food consumption, leaving a purplish tint on the lips. This shade goes well with the lolli tint on the cheeks, which is the makeup look I have been going to for the past few weeks.

6. Aritaum Honey Melting Tint

Picture

Picture

I was so excited when I found this on Qoo10.sg going for 2+1 promotion! I wanted this ever since the same Korean Youtuber mentioned above exclaimed her love for these tints. I understand that Aritaum has pretty awesome products, but have never owned any cosmetics from them until now! I got myself 3 shades at a go: Strawberry Chips, Coral candy and Grapefruit Soda. I received Grapefruit Soda as the free +1 item, which was randomly distributed. Initially I was hoping to be sent a more neutral shade, but to my surprise Grapefruit Soda is the color I wore the most out of all the 3 shades! These tints are super moisturizing and glossy, and really does leave a nice bright tint on the lips. The only problem I have with these is that because the bullet itself does not have a sharp edge, I have a hard time during application as I need to be super careful and precise to prevent smudging the product out of the lip line. Shaping the cupid’s bow is a challenge with the round bullet. Nonetheless, I still love these tints because they are moisturizing, lightweight, super pigmented and glossy! I’m a bit tired of seeing dry, chapped lips which matte tints causes.

7. DIOR Lip Glow Color Revival Balm

Picture

Picture

This may appear a little gross because it’s been too well loved by me. In fact, this item should be on every single monthly favourites post until I run out of it because that is exactly how awesome this item is. Many people mistaken that this item has no color whatsoever and is just merely a lip balm. This is a misconception! This lip glow adjusts its color according to the chemistry of the lips, and the result is a special shade of pink that is unique to each person. On my lips, the lip glow transforms into a sweet hot pink color that is glossy and moisturizing. It leaves a stain after the balm wears off, which ensures that your lips are never bare. Whenever I head out, I usually put on a normal bright lipstick, and layer this lip glow on after that lipstick wears off. The lip glow not only cure the dryness left behind by the previous lipstick, it also works with the lipstick stain left behind and enhances the lip color. The best thing is that I do not even need a mirror to apply this because it really is a easy and non-fussy lip product. I think when I finish my current tube (thanks boyfriend!), I will definitely get myself another one because I cannot survive without it. I have never reached for a lip product so much in my life.

8. THE FACE SHOP Aura Color Control Cream

CC creams have been all the hype recently, and many brands have been introducing their own takes on CC creams. However, I have only tried 1 CC cream so far, and that is this Aura Color Control Cream from The Face Shop. With this product, I do not see the need to try out any other CC creams because this CC cream is a perfect match to what I want in a base makeup product. This is a little embarrassing, but I have received sooooo many compliments about my skin whenever I wear this CC Cream (hehe). I find that the Beauty Blender works really well in applying this product, and it gives this really natural finish that allows my actual skin to shine through while correcting any dull complexion I might have. The oil control is pretty good! I only have to blot once out of 8 hours of wear. I do not feel like I am wearing anything on my skin when I use this CC cream. In addition, as it comes in a compact design it is travel friendly and easy to use! It has SPA30, PA++ and I wear shade #01. One tub(?) lasted me for about a year or so, because only very little amount is needed for the entire face and neck. I’m about to run out of product soon, so I’m planning to repurchase it from Qoo10.sg which sells it soooo much cheaper than in TFS stores. Really really recommend this for girls who has an overall good complexion and just want a base to provide radiance and light coverage.

9. Arm Candies

Picture

I probably caught on the arm candies trend a tad too late, but recently I really enjoy layering these beautiful bracelets on my hand along with a watch. The only downside is that they can be quite annoying when washing hands, and I really hate the feeling when my metal watch overlaps the bracelet because I fear that the crystals will start falling out. Nonetheless, I will definitely get more soon, especially the rope ones because they can be tightened to fit my small wrists.

10. Samsung Galaxy S5 & CHANEL N°5 PARFUM mobile case

Picture

When I first got my new phone, many people have been asking whether S5 is good. It’s been about 2 months since I first got it, and I know this is a bit too early for me to say, but S5 IS AN AWESOME PHONE!! As compared to S3, I really like how stable the system is and there’s minimal application crashing and almost no lag at all. The rear camera is awesome, as we all know. I like the front camera because of the Beauty Effect that it comes with by default, however the MP for the front camera leaves more to be desired. Nonetheless, I feel that selfies look the best when they are not so clear, yeah? (laugh)
The phone is a little big for my liking, as I have quite small hands, however there is a single-hand function whereby your entire screen will shrink to a corner and you can use your phone like usual with only one hand. I can text with one hand thanks to this function! Overall, S5 is a really functional phone with minimal gimmicks, and is more suitable for mature users who value stability over fun but unnecessary functions.
By the way, this is a little random but I am in love with my new phone case. Shoutout to da boyfriend for giving me such a pretty case! Not only is it in hot pink, but I also really like that it comes with the lanyard. While I was working at the Motherhood expo fair for AIA, I had to look after kids in the ball pool and holding my phone on my hand is quite inconvenient especially when I have to carry babies in and out of the pool. Thankfully for the lanyard, I can free my hands out for those cute little chubby toddlers (or tiny devils). Initially I was worried that the lanyard might break off or something but so far it’s been secure and reliable, phew!
Item is available here. That’s about it for now! I have to catch up with my braces post soon!

XOXO,
Iris

APRIL MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Hey there!

I can’t believe it’s time to do another monthly favourites again, because it means I only have about 3 months left before my hectic academic life starts again… Oh well, I shall not think about it and enjoy my holiday as it is first, because #YOLO!!

SO! This April’s favourites will be split into 4 sections, namely “Skincare”, “Makeup”, “Fashion” and “Random”.

Skincare Favourites:

1. Avene Thermal Spring Water
I know I’m a little slow in this, but I only got obsessed with this mist in the past month despite hearing soooo many raves about it throughout the years. Initially I was a little skeptical because afterall, it’s just normal water right? How much difference can spring water and normal water have? Well, let me tell you that I don’t know why, but this thing really works. My skin was having some trouble due to the stupid hot weather here in Singapore, and even though I wasn’t breaking out, my skin just felt rougher than before and there are dry, red patches around my nose, forehead and chin. I was pretty annoyed because my base makeup did not sit as nicely as before. However after using this product, I felt like my skin has soothed down a lot, and it felt more hydrated and less irritable. In addition, this is a good before & after makeup spray because it helps the makeup to adhere better and also hydrate your skin even with the layers of products on. In conclusion, I’m sure this is going to be a permanent staple in my skincare routine from now on!

2. Bath & Body Works Golden Magnolia Sun Fine Fragrance Body Mist
I got this while shopping with Char & Esmay for a friend’s present. I always wanted a BNBW fragrance body mist, but never got one because there were just tooooo many varieties in the store I cannot make up my mind and da BF definitely cannot let me waste 1H in the store picking up a suitable fragrance. However with my girlfriends, it was a different story because we literally took almost more than an hour in the store just going crazy over every single product! I think I tried out almost all the fragrances available in the store to be honest, and by the end of the day my nose was sooo clogged up. I wished they had those little jars of coffee beans in the store to kill the multiple scents lingering in my nose. Anyway, I was not very keen in any scents despite the wide varieties available. They were just too sweet, too strong or too musky for my liking. In the end I just settled for this Golden Magnolia Sun scent which I was not exactly loving, but the scent was not too offensive and I was okay with it. (You know, girls have this time when they just need to spend money on stuff they don’t really like/need, yeah?) However, when I got home and sprayed this on my skin, I was really surprised! It smells so much better on my skin than that strip of paper they gave me in the store, and this mist lasted longer than I had expected! I like how the caramel and vanilla scents worked well with the peony and magnolia scents! It feels very summery to me, and the bottle is PINK, what is there not to love? All in all, I find this a great summer scent for the days when I feel active and extremely cheerful!

3. LALINE Ocean Handcream
I’ve mentioned this product in my previous post before, but I have been using it dutifully for the past month and it deserves a spot in my monthly favourites! I just really like the consistency of this handcream as well as the subtle scent it gives. My Mom hates it when I put on strong body/hand creams at night because the scent lingers in the aircon room and irritates her nose. However, with this Laline handcream, the scent is so subtle that she does not even realize I had on a scented handcream. It feels personal because only I can smell it from my hands hehe. Plus, this handcream has really kept my hands feeling moisturized and cured those dry patches near my cuticles which I cannot stop picking at. Definitely wished I had purchased more of this than the Laline body mist. Oh well!

4. SK-II Signature Eye Cream
I’ve had this for awhile, and never really used it because the first time I tried, it gave me oil bumps around my eyes and I was freaked out. I recently rediscovered this, and decided to use it in tiny amount, and it worked brilliantly! In my opinion this eye cream is seriously rich, and hence a little goes a long way! I did not really see any improvements in my dark eye circles, but that is probably because of my unhealthy lifestyle (3am bedtime,

Makeup Favourites:

1. e.l.f. Studio Endless Eyes Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette

Picture

Beautifully captured with my Samsung S5 Camera

I purchased this 32 colors eyeshadow palette in NATURAL from a Carouseller who sells many makeup instocks at a more reasonable price than Watsons/SASA roadshows. For $9.90 I was not expecting much from this palette, especially since its from e.l.f., which is famous for their hit & miss products. I was actually going to skip this palette because of its natural shades, as I already have both the NAKED 1 & 2 palettes as well as The Balm Nude ‘tude palette but gave in because of its price. Thankfully, the pigmentation of this palette is slightly better than average, and despite some chalky shades, the rest of the colors were beautiful and applied evenly! In addition the palette has a fair share of matte and shimmer shades, and the colors compliment each other on the eyes. The palette definitely performed beyond my expectations, and I find myself reaching for it a lot when I feel like doing a natural eye makeup. For days when I prefer a pop of color on my eyes, I use the Too Faced “A few of my favourite things” palette which my boyfriend got for me last christmas! With these 2 palettes, i can do any looks that i want 🙂

2. ASA Korean False Eyelashes DS20

Picture

After watching one of the episodes of Get It Beauty! (Korean’s version of 女人我最大)where the makeup artist revealed that all actresses, even Jung Ji HYun in “You who came from the stars”, can never give up their false lashes, I decided that it was time I venture into the false lashes dimension. The Koreans make false lashes look sooooo natural and pretty, I just had to try!

Picture

Not only is her eyeliner near to invisible, I just cannot believe she is wearing false lashes too!

So I searched for an identical lash design as what the makup artist in the episode showed, and cut the lashes up as he had instructed (that’s why you see the first pair of lashes appeared shorter than the rest in the image above). I realized that using only sections of the lashes greatly increased the ease of its application, and gave a more natural appearance. I do not like to have the false strands appearing longer than my own lashes, as my main intention is to create volume not length, hence i trim down the lash tips to reduce its length. I find that it looks even more natural like this. I don’t use the lashes often because application is quite troublesome, but on days whereby I do not need to rush to head out, I like to feel a little more dolled up.

3. Darkness Eyelash & Double eyelid glue
I needed an eyelash glue as the lash glue that came with my false lashes could not be shipped over via normal air, so i went to SASA and randomly picked up an eyelash glue without reading the description. I did not realize that this is a double duty glue, and can be used as an double eyelid glue as well. I have natural double eyelids so I only used this as an eyelash glue. I find that it performs as well as the ever so famous ARDELL lash glue, and turns transparent when dried. I only wished it came with a brush applicator or something so that I can apply it on the lashes easily. Nonetheless since it is the only eyelash glue I own for the moment, I have been reaching for it alot in the past month!

4. CATRICE Made to Stay Smoothing Lip Polish in Mission PINKpossible

Picture

Lip lacquers are all the hype now, and several brands ranging from YSL to Etude house have introduced such similar lip products. I had always wanted to try Clio’s Lipnicure, but never got around buying it because of the mixed reviews on the net saying that it was extremely drying and uncomfortable. The Etude House color lips fit lipstick did not appeal to me because of its powdery finish when dried. So when I was shopping in Guardian, scanning the Catrice shelve from top to bottom, I saw these lip polishes and immediately grabbed the hot pink shade and headed to the cashier. I did not bother to google for reviews because after trying so many Catrice products, the brand has built up a sense of trust in me as Catrice has never disappointed me in the aspect of their products’ quality. My trust did not go to vain because this lip polish is not only superrrr pigmented, it is moisturizing and lightweight, long lasting and also wallet-friendly!! These were only $9.90 per tube, and even though I wished they made the packaging a bit more glamorous, the applicator is really good at precise application. The finish is glossy, which was right up my alley, and a matte look can be achieved by removing the surface of the lip polish. What is left behind is a beautiful matte hot pink stain, which I adore as well. My braces do not really like this lip polish though, as I must be really careful to prevent the lip polish from coming in contact with my braces. It seriously stains my braces in a hot pink shade, and that is a big problem especially for my ceramic braces. Removal for this product is a little troublesome as a oil based makeup remover is needed (I use the Loreal Eye & Lip makeup remover). I am currently planning to purchase another shade “Jen & Berry’s”, as I need a more natural shade for days when I don’t feel like wearing such a bright lip color.
(Swatches available below, along with swatches fro the color sensational lipstick)5. MAYBELLINE Color Sensational Bold Matte Lipstick in Hot Pink

Picture

Another really bright and bold lip color, I have been using this lippie for the gradient lip effect. Because it is super bright and pigmented, I apply this in the middle of my lips and sheer it out towards the edges of my lips, and the result is beautiful and girly.
Here are some swatches of the lip polish and this lipstick!

6. Beauty Blender Pro

Picture

If you are wondering what that black round thing is from the first picture, it is my beloved Beauty Blender Pro Sponge. I had always wanted to get the original pink Beauty Blender, but held back because of its price tag. I do not know what got into me for the past month, but I finally went out and purchased a duo set. I got the Pro one because i couldn’t find the original pink one sold anywhere, and I did not like the Beauty Blender Pure as it will definitely get stained like crazy. I finally understood why many people do not mind the price tag that comes with these blenders! They seriously apply my base makeup flawlessly, and gives an airbrush finish. Like mentioned above, my skin has been very irritated by the weather recently, and my base makeup emphasized those problem spots. However, using the blender helped solve this problem! I also really liked the way my base makeup is even and applied in thin layers, because it allows my actual skin to shine through and doesn’t look cakey. I use the blender with my IOPE CC cream (which did not make it to my favourites as I don’t really adore it), and managed to achieve a dewy and flawless finish. I also use it to apply primer, concealer and powder blush! It is simple actually, I JUST REALLY REALLY LOVE IT! If you haven’t gotten one, don’t hesitate, just splurge and be impressed!!

Fashion favourites:

1. Sneakers creepers

Picture

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I have been wearing these kicks A LOT. They give me some extra height (not that I need one, I’m already 171cm), and are pretty comfortable to walk in. They are really light, but the only problem is that I cannot run or walk too fast in these shoes because of the extra layer(s) below. I just feel that they really add a statement to my overall outfit, and breathing even fresher air is a plus for me! HAHAHAH

2. Infinity Rope Bracelet

Picture

This infinity bracelet is available on MARIXSTYLE ! I just like that it is simple yet adds a little statement on my wrist, and the white ropes make it easy to match my outfits!

Random favourites:

1. Meiji Matcha Latte Ice Bar

Picture

My mom got this for me, and let me tell you IT IS SO GOD DAMN GOOD!! The matcha icecream isn’t bitter, and has small lumps of what seems like mochi in the icecream! Really good for a hot day (which is everyday), but not very cheap as it cost $7.90 for 4 sticks. But who cares, when it’s this good?

2. Harada Green Tea Sachets

Picture

There are many health benefits in green tea, and drinking unsweetened green tea is definitely better than those bottled green teas with artificial flavourings. These sachets can be used to make hot or cold green tea, and the taste is very rich unlike those bland green teas that are served in several japanese restaurants. However, do note that these are not tea bags and do not come with the strings, and soaking the sachets in water for too long may result in a cup of overly bitter green tea! I prefer to drink these hot, and the taste encourages me to drink more water! You get 40 sachets for $3.90!

Well, this has been a really long post, and I hope I didn’t bore you out!
That is it for now!

XOXO,
Iris

EARLY MARCH FAVOURITES X BRIGID’S 21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY

Hey there!

I’ve always enjoyed watching/reading on bloggers’ and youtubers’ monthly favourites, and finally I have a chance to do it myself! Well, I know that a monthly favourites post should always occur at the end of a month or the start of the next month, however, I feel like I have developed so much love for these products that there is no need for me to wait till the very end of the month to do this post.

Picture

From left to right:

1. LaLine Ocean Hand Relief Hand Cream
Like I mentioned in my previous post, LaLine will be completely exiting Singapore soon, and I wanted to buy some of their stuffs before they disappear. I told my clique about this news, and Natalie went to stock up on her LaLine products.
I met her the other day to go to SIM for application verification, and she let me try her hand cream. Thereafter, I could not stop touching my own hands (in a healthy manner, please) the whole day, and I knew I had to go get that same hand cream. I bought the exact same one that Natalie has, because I love the subtle scent, and also because it’s the last scent that they are left with for the hand creams (in the PP branch). To be honest, it really doesn’t smell anything like what I expect an “Ocean” scent will smell, but I’m quite sure there are hints of musk in the scent. I’m a sucker for musk scents, and hence it’s given that I adore this hand cream. The hand cream does not leave behind any stickiness/greasiness.
I realized that if a very small amount is applied, the cream tends to give a drying feeling. However, if applied generously, the skin feels very moisturised for a long time.
In addition, it’s on 50% off! Can’t miss out on this awesome opportunity, right?

2. Elizabeth Arden Eyeshadow & Blusher palette

Picture

I’ve had this palette for a really long time but I did not realize its value until a few months ago. I generally prefer matte eyeshadows, and it is rare to come across an entire palette filled with matte shades. The browns in this palette are beyond gorgeous. My favourite shade is Apricot (4th shade from the 1st row). I use it as an eyeshadow, and also for concealing my dark eye circles. (No I’m not crazy! A post on how I use eyeshadows for concealing coming up soon!) I have yet to try the blushers because I have too much love for the blushers included in the TooFaced “Few of my Favourite Things” palette. To be honest, this picture does not do the palette any justice. I should go get a better camera soon..

3. Bath & Body Works Strawberry Parfait and Paris Amour PocketBacs
Call me silly, but I’ve never owned a anti-bacteria hand gel from the famous Bath & Body Works. I’ve heard of them before, and added them to my online shopping carts for quite a few times, but I never got around to purchasing it in the end. I don’t really know why, maybe because I was not able to imagine how the sanitizers will smell by viewing them virtually. I am really fussy when it comes to fragrances, so I am always worried about buying products with fragrances online. A while back, I finally had chance to personally smell these PocketBacs and I finally understand all the craze about these little squeeze bottles. I could not resist, and bought 2 at a go along with the glittery carrier thing.
I made the boyfriend try the strawberry parfait one in the car, and gosh, the entire car smelled like strawberry icecream for the whole night, it was heavenly! The Paris Amour one is my favourite though, because it smells so refreshing! In addition these 2 sanitizers are the glittery version, which means both our hands had little specks of glitter on them, and that just added on to the fun. The boyfriend was complaining that he cannot use it because he will start smelling like a girl, and get teased for having glitters on his hands. Then I remembered that there was a Ocean scent one for men, but I wonder how that smells like…

4. MAC Cremesheen Crosswires Lipstick
I was watching Essiebutton’s (Youtuber) video on her top 5 MAC lipsticks the other day, and found Crosswires very familiar. I started ransacking my makeup stash, and found my first, and only MAC lipstick – Crosswires. I no longer remember when or why I got it, but I am pleased that my taste for makeup hasn’t changed much. Crosswires is a blend of pink and orange, and despite its seemingly soft look in the tube, it applies quite brightly.
I LOVEEEE lipsticks, and after owning so many of them, I can tell immediately whether a lipstick is good or bad for me. Crosswires have awesome pigmentation, is moisturizing and last for a good 4 to 5 hours on my lips (without eating). Thereafter, it leaves a beautiful stain on the lips. Most importantly, it glides like a dream over my dry & chapped lips, and never once emphasized on the dry patches.
This is my first MAC lipstick, but it will not be the last!

———-

I had a short gathering today with my OBC girls at Brigid’s 21st birthday party!

It was my first time going to her house, and out of all things I was most impressed by the attic (I didn’t actually get to go up, but I got a glimpse of it and I wish I had one at home too).

However, I was not very at ease throughout the party. No, not because there were too many strangers at the party, but because of Tinsel, the dog. I was damn afraid the whole time that someone might be soften by her sad face and decides to let her out of the backyard to mingle with the humans. Tinsel is so cute but I had to keep my distance, and in the end when I was about to leave I felt slightly regretful not having the guts to at least pat her.

The theme for the party was Barbie, but we didn’t come in pink/purple clothes. (Ops! Sorry Bri, I don’t own any pink dresses, surprisingly..) Brigid was beautiful as always, and her family was very welcoming! However, I can see how tiring it must be to host a party because all the guests are everywhere and there were just too many people. But we had fun just pigging ourselves out at the buffet table, and then resting in her room with her very fat hamster (please give him some sunlight).

Instead of a birthday cake, her sister made her some birthday cupcakes, and they were so cute! I swear the frosting tasted way better than those sold in the stores!

Happy Birthday once again, our dear Ah Bri! Hope you had a memorable and blessed 21st! #OBC loves you!
